The Scottish Rite's 28th and 29th Degrees are mighty impressive, and we invite you to attend and observe if you are a member of the 'Rite. Join us at Franklin and Dupont Avenues So., for the 27th Degree ceremony in full regalia. Dinner served at 5:00PM.
28th Degree: Knight of the Sun, or Prince Adept - Duties: This degree teaches that our love for God manifests itself in our love for Truth, Justice and Nobility of Soul. Lessons: Nature reveals a power and wisdom and continually points to God. The visible is the manifestation of the invisible. In the Universe two opposite forces provide balance. There is no death, only change. Philosophy is a kind of journey, ever learning, but never arriving at the ideal of truth. The moral code of Masonry is more extensive than that of philosophy.
29th Degree: Scottish Knight of Saint Andrew - Duties: The virtues of this degree are "Love of God, loyalty to superiors, faithful adherence to promise and active resistance to unfair judgment." Lessons: Ideas and institutions wax and wane in the great cycle of time, which is but change.
Read about the Scottish Rite here. It's often called "the college of Masonry" for its deeper dive into the Masonic principles first introduced in the first three degrees of Freemasonry. Scottish Rite degrees allow time for group discussion on how our ideals have impacted many good and great men in history, weaving our impact into the Enlightenment and Western Civilization itself.
