Description:

(Hebrew: ראש השנה‎), (literally "head of the year"), marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year. Lasting two days, it is the first of the High Holidays or Yamim Noraim ("Days of Awe"), and is celebrated ten days before Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah is observed on the first two days of Tishrei, beginning at sunset, the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar. It is described in the Torah as a day of "Zikhron Trua" ("remembrance of the blowing of the horn").
