9/11 Tribute
The 7th annual 9-11 Tribute Our Community Remembers will take place at the Lake Harriet Band Shell on Thursday evening September 11th at 7P.M.  Producer Bob Bayers is putting together another memorable evening.  Conducting again this year will be Manny Laureano, principal Trumpet of the Minnesota Orchestra and has served as Co-Artistic Director of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies since 1988.  Conducting the chorus again will be John Hoffacker who founded and conducts Chorus Polaris and serves as Director of Music at the Church of the Epiphany in Plymouth. For the 6th year in a row our neighbors Frank Vascellaro and Amelia Santaniello will serve as hosts for the event!

The Masons of Minnesota are closely linked with this annual event.  Lake Harriet Lodge hosts the orchestra rehearsals, they provided the 12' x 18' American Flag that has flown at the back of the Band Shell for every concert. They also provided the hundreds of American flags that are given to the men and women who have served in the US armed forces as the 'Armed Forces Salute' is played as well as to the young people to wave as they march in the parade.  The Heroes of '76 serve as color guard and present the flag tribute.  The Zuhrah Shrine Pipes and Drums perform as well.

The all volunteer orchestra and chorus began rehearsals on August 21st.   The young people attending can march in the parade and they will all receive an American Flag to wave.  We will perform Blue Liberty written by Emmy Award-winning composer Steve Heitzeg.  The evening will end with a candlelight vigil, God Bless America and a couple minutes of fireworks.  Plan on arriving early for a good seat as this event has been attended by more than 2,000 people each year.  For more information or to volunteer to sing/play or help in other areas go to
